Hotels in the Black Forest

The Black Forest is a top destination for a wellness weekend. Many hotels also offer world-class international cuisine in-house. So it’s a good job the locations offer plenty of opportunities for hiking and extensive sightseeing. Members of our hotel program can expect the usual benefits, such as a room upgrade if available, as well as early check-in or late check-out.

Luisenhöhe, Horben

The Luisenhöhe is almost drowning under the sheer number of awards it has received: Leading Spa Resorts, Wellness & Spa Innovation Award, "Best of Germany 2024" mention in the Falstaff Hotel Guide. You can really relax here. The UNESCO Black Forest Biosphere Reserve’s unique natural landscape awaits those who prefer spending their time in nature.

Hotel Dollenberg, Bad Peterstal-Griesbach

The typical Black Forest chalet building has always remained true to its classic traditional line even after renovations and modernizations. Chef Martin Herrmann manages the two-star restaurant Le Pavillon. Eating outside takes on a whole new meaning here. As the gourmet food is even served in a forest clearing on request.

Brenners Park Hotel, Baden-Baden

What the Hotel Atlantic is to Hamburg and the Baur au Lac is to Zurich, is the Brenners Park Hotel, an old-school 5-star grand hotel, to Baden-Baden. If you want to stay here when top events are held, book a year in advance. At least. If there are still rooms available, Platinum Card® members will receive a room upgrade and other advantages.

Restaurants in the Black Forest

Once you’ve mentally and physically relaxed, take care of your taste buds. The gourmet experiences on offer in the Black Forest are varied, in terms of ambience too. In recent years, regional cuisine in particular has reached a whole new level that is worth tasting. Regional, international – it doesn’t matter. The culinary experience will be unforgettable.

Jacobi, Freiburg

The Jacobi receives praise from the Michelin Guide for its innovative use of sustainable, regional products. For example, it decided to do without luxury ingredients altogether. This is more than unusual at this level, but it seems to be working. You can only book a table for the fine dining restaurant up to three months in advance.

Restaurant Bareiss, Baiersbronn

Chef Claus-Peter Lumpp worked alongside the two gourmet legends Eckart Witzigmann and Alain Ducasse for a long time, learning his craft from them. So it’s hardly surprising that he didn’t have to wait long to achieve his three stars. He now showcases all his skills at the Bareiss restaurant. Contemporary: A vegetarian menu is also available.

Wintergarten, Baden Baden

From the spa to fine dining. The Wintergarten is part of the Brenner Park-Hotel & Spa, one of the most traditional hotels in Germany. Sights in the Black Forest

On the must-see list: sweet Black Forest towns, a favorite haunt of the international jet set, nature parks, lakes and waterfalls. In the Black Forest, no one has to stick to what they know they like, but can be surprised and inspired by new discoveries. The entire area stretches for about 200 kilometers from north to south. So no sightseeing spot is out of reach.

Titisee

Anyone spending their vacation in the Black Forest Highlands must go on an excursion to lake Titisee, whose Alemannic name tickles many people. You can reach this romantic spot easily from Freiburg or Donaueschingen. It is surrounded by bewitchingly beautiful hilly scenery. Discovery tours are possible by boat or pedalo and of course on foot.

Baden-Baden

Indulge in a touch of decadence before your outdoor experience. Baden-Baden brings together the interests of high society. Not everyone can afford racehorses or an art collection. The environment meets the high demands. Elegant bars, restaurants, the Friedrichsbad and the Caracalla Spas relieve the stress of being rich.

Black Forest National Park

Hurricane Lothar swept through the country in 1999 when severe weather was comparatively rare. It ploughed a real swathe through the Black Forest. The Lothar adventure trail is now one of the attractions in the park, which covers an area of over 10,000 hectares. Great hikes lead to lake Wilder See and the Allerheiligen waterfalls.

Triberg waterfalls

The Triberg waterfalls are situated in the romantic upper Gutach valley, near Triberg, a textbook example of a small Black Forest town. The late Baroque pilgrimage church of Maria in der Tanne is much admired. The waterfalls themselves plunge about 150 meters down seven steps, making them Germany’s highest waterfalls outside the Alps.
