The journey is the reward
Hiking is more popular in Switzerland than almost any other sport. And the local hiking possibilities leave nothing to be desired: All of Switzerland’s hiking trails, joined together, amount to 65,000 kilometers – more than 1.5 times around the globe. Discover wonderful hiking destinations here and be inspired to create unique memories.
Swiss hiking
When the birds sing and nature turns a lush green, then it’s the hiking season again. Whether it’s a picturesque circular hike on the "Felsenweg Bürgenstock", a long-distance hike like the classic "Via Alpina" or an idyllic mountain lake hike along the "Lac de Taney in the Rhone Valley" – the variety of hiking opportunities in Switzerland is almost endless and always varied. That is why good preparation is essential. This includes route planning, enough food, water and the right equipment – such as comfortable shirts from "Whatever Man" and perfectly fitting functional clothing from "MAYA MAYA". As soon as your rucksack is packed, off you go.
Expanding your horizons
The Grand Canyon in the United States appears to be infinite and endlessly deep. If you want to experience this breathtaking view in miniature, you don’t need an airline ticket, just a trip to the (wild) west of Switzerland: The "Creux du Van" gorge in the canton of Neuchâtel with its 160-meter-high vertical rock faces forms a unique rocky arena with a spectacular forest landscape. You can also find just as impressive panoramas in the south of Switzerland: The "ridge hike from Monte Lema to Monte Tamaro" in Ticino is known for its views into the distance, which are hard to beat. From the Leventina, you can see the surrounding valleys as far as the Valais Alps in the west and the Grisons Alps in the east.
Summiteers
If you want to head even higher and climb the summit, it is best to travel to the Bernese Oberland. The beautiful nature in Gstaad and varied activities thanks to "Glacier 3000" get hiking enthusiasts’ pulses racing. The summit’s crowning glory is the "Glacier Walk". And "glacier junkies" also get their money’s worth in the Graubünden region: During the "Palü" glacier hike organized by Bergsteigerschule Pontresina, you can marvel at the breathtaking glacier world of the Bernina Range. But for this adventure you need the right alpine equipment, for example from the "Go Vertical" online shop.
Experience nature
If you’ve walked enough – or generally prefer a bit more speed – you can switch to two wheels. The Swiss mountain world is also wonderful for exploring by bike. "Zweibike", for example, offers comprehensive advice, a wide range of bikes and complete repairs. As soon as everything is ready to pedal, you can select your tour. The Graubünden region offers breathtaking flora and fauna, for example with a bike tour through "Bivio" or "Lenzerheide". On the latter tour, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy lunch with regional specialties at "Bergcafé Aurora". And those who would rather stay in the wilderness and cook their cervelat sausage or vegetable skewers over a fire are perfectly equipped with a pocketknife from "sknife".
Have a good trip home
Once you’ve conquered the summit, enjoyed the view and created unforgettable memories, it will be time to head home again at some point. A car subscription from "Astara" is ideal to make the return trip as comfortable and flexible as possible. The impressive journey into the Swiss hiking world is complete.
