Karl’s kühne Gassenschau

Since its foundation in 1984, "Karl’s kühne Gassenschau" (Charles’ cool side street show) has presented 22 different productions in over 3,500 performances to more than three million viewers. This open-air theater presents a new, spectacular show once again this year in Dietikon.

Nomen est omen: as cool as Karl

"Karl’s kühne Gassenschau" is put together by a team of founders from Zurich, who met at drama school. An unbridled desire to push the boundaries of imagination and to combine entertainment with innovation is the driving force behind all their productions. The name of this group is as creative as their productions. Contrary to the convention at the time of its foundation to give a collective of artists a French or Italian name, they opted for a typically German name: Karl. And to keep it simple, they named themselves after what they presented: a cool side street show.

Panta rhei: everything is flowing

"RECEPTION", the latest creation of "Karl’s kühne Gassenschau", is a touching story about letting go. Spectacular pictures talk about love, separation and farewell. The massive stage set in the middle of a large stretch of water holds a lot of surprises. The creative engineering team behind "Karl’s kühne Gassenschau" is pulling out all the stops to put the audience in an aquatic dream, where bathtubs turn into racing boats and whole room furnishings are washed away by monster waves. Poetic, surprising and overwhelming.
