La Chaumière, Verbier
Founded in 1959 by Armand Blanc, the multi-award-winning cheese dairy "La Chaumière" is an institution in Verbier that is an integral part of the snow sports destination in Valais.
For the love of tradition
The second and third generations of the Blanc family are already carrying on the old tradition of cheese-making: Philippe Blanc and his son Léo are responsible for the uniqueness and outstanding quality of their diverse range of delicacies. Prestigious awards such as the "Chevalier de l’ordre du mérite agricole français" attest to the master cheesemakers’ skills – as do their satisfied customers.
More than just cheese
Over 200 types of cheese, all matured in their own cellar, can be discovered in the lovely store in the middle of the Valais mountains. Try classics such as the 24-month-old Gruyère or other hard cheeses, which get their extremely creamy taste from the in-house wine yeast method. Brie refined with fresh truffles is also famous beyond Verbier. In addition to the unique cheeses, there are even more delicacies to try, such as pickled apricots, terrines, fresh rye bread, raspberry liqueur or absinthe – all lovingly homemade or carefully selected, of course.
